Haircut tomorrow. Please help!?

I'm getting my haircut tomorrow, so I've been looking online for a style that's simple and easy to manage. Here's what I came up with:

Could somebody please tell me how I explain this style to my hairdresser? My hair's already nearly that length, so I don't want much cut off, and obviously I need to ask for a side parting. I'm just very confused about layering and feathering, and the difference between the two, so if somebody could describe how Avril's hair has been cut in those pictures, that would be really helpful! :)

um bringing in a picture of a haircut wont always work with your hairdresser cause they can get carried away. i love avrils hair and if ur hair is almost that long ask for a 1 cm trim off the ends and long layers that start about 5 cm after the chin. if your hair is thicker than avrils ask for it to be thinned a little. also the hair around the front will have to be cut on a slight angle to give some shape. of course dont let them thin your hair too much cause it will turn out scraggly. AVRILS HAIR ROCKS!!!! u should get a pink extension clip on. that would be awesome

why don't you just print out a picture and bring it to your hairdresser. that is what i usually do. this way he/she can see it for him/herself and cut accordingly.

print off or cut out a picture of avril...tell your hairdresser you want to keep the length but about 2 inches from the bottom you want it layered to look as though it's naturally got a wind-blown look

hairdressers always work best by visuals when you verbally tell them something it means something differently normally , so best to colour print those links out and take them with you

i would just print up the pictures and show the stylist. That hairstyle is kind of hard to describe.

Yup, just bring the pictures and ask for long layers. The stylist will understand. Just, whatever you do, don't ask for feathering. Feathering is what Tiffany did to her hairstyle in the 80s. Its out, trust me.

if you can print a picture 2 show ur hairstylist all the better!!!! Its visual pic what u got in mind. BUT u've got 2 take in2 count the shape of Ur face Style might not b suitable 4 u. difference between layering %26amp; texturing is:-

Texturing:- u can keep hair all same length...ur cutting in2 the hair 2 soften the edges Also gives chopper look

Laying:- ur cutting the hair difference lengths so u've got more body, movement, height etc ................... u can layer %26amp; texturise the same haircut 2 get the look u want 2 acheive! but it depends on ur hair....lenght,thickness etc how stylist goes about it. Good Luck
