I was looking for a new curling iron, and Helen of Troy seems to make a really good one, but it's gold plated. Is that just as good as ceramic or tourmaline? These are the 2 I'm picking between.

The Tigi one is nano ceramic, and the other one is gold plated. But I don't want to burn my hair, any idea which is better for hair?
And also, if I want big flips, should I get a 1 1/2 inch barrel or 2 inch? help!

i have the bed head curling iron...and my hair is NATURALLY curly, but when i want to tame it down a bit i'll straighten my hair then use it..not many curling irons work in my hair..but this one is AMAZING. i'd definitely try it.
Either 2 or 1 1/2 inch will work. just be sure to hold it VERTICALLY, if you don't you'll just get spirals... if you're not sure which to get, go with the 1 1/2 inch, so that if you think they're too tight you can just loosen them up with your fingers...personally, i have a 2.5 inch one for my waves (like the pictures you showed)...it was soo hard to find..but i love it. haha.

if you're wanting big flips, I'd do the bigger barrel because the smaller one is designed for small curls. I'm sure they are both good products just different depending on what you're looking for, but I'd suggest a bigger barrel..good luck!

get 1 1/2 because its versatile for any hair style, and a 2 inch is for really thick curls.
but i would definately get the ceramic plated one because its healthier for your hair and its easier to style with ceramic.

I know that the local Regis hair salon uses great curling irons. They can be found at Regis salons or at Sephora for about two hundred dollars, but they work miracles!
