Perm question?

Smaller rods give a tighter curl, larger rods give a bigger curl. Take the picture with you to your hairdresser - it's their job to know exactly what size rods to use to give you the look you want. You don't have to have very long hair for a perm, but you do need enough length to be able to put the rods in.

Perm question?

I would suggest about four inches of hair growth (allows for better rolling and helps prevent frizziness), and if the stylist is a professional, then he/she would choose the correct rod sizes to use once you show him/her the picture. Most professional stylists can recreate a look just by seeing a picture. If you still want to suggest a particular size, I suggest the peach perm rods, which is about an inch or inch and a half wide. Also, deep conditioning really well along with using an anti-frizz serum will also help prevent that frizzy look that comes with tight curls. Good luck!

Perm question?

A perm lasts, usually, until it begins to grow out and you have to have it redone so the roots are curly two. The curl in the picture looks like a half in diameter rod or in most cases a pink or grey rod. This is a fairly tight perm and your hair should be about three inches long to make it easier to roll and a little wiggle room for when it's done and they need to trim it a little. Make sure you let the stylist know if you have or plan on coloring your hair, even if it was a couple months ago. The color affects the type of perm solution they would use on your hair. Also bring in the photo and be very clear on what it is you want. Communication with your stylist is very important.
